Dublin Aerospace Welcomes Applications for its 2023 Apprenticeship Program

Dublin Aerospace, the aircraft maintenance company based out of Dublin Airport, today opens its applications for its greatly anticipated Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship. In partnership with SOLAS, the Further Education and Training Authority in Ireland, Dublin Aerospace has also opened the applications for its inaugural Toolmaking Apprenticeship.

 

With a combination of Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeships for Aircraft Overhaul in the Dublin Aerospace Hangars and Mechanical Automation and the newly launched Toolmaking Apprenticeship for the Landing Gear, APU, and Component Workshop, applicants have until April 17th to submit their applications.

 

This year’s program will welcome 25 new apprentices to the growing Dublin Aerospace team. With a blended approach of classroom and hands-on experience, those who successfully complete the apprenticeship will be considered for full-time positions at Dublin Aerospace.

To date, we have welcomed over 150 apprenticeships through our doors, who have helped shape Dublin Aerospace’s culture as it stands today, playing a key part in our success. Toolmaking Apprenticeship

  • The Dublin Aerospace Toolmaking Apprenticeship will have a key focus on the dismantling, overhauling and assembly of Landing Gear, Auxiliary Power Units (APU) and their components.
  • The paid Toolmaking Apprenticeship program is carried out over a minimum of 4 years and consists of 7 phases — 3 Off-the-Job Phases with the Education & Training Boards (ETB)/ Solas/Institute of Technology (approx. 40 weeks in total), and 4 On-the-Job Phases with Dublin Aerospace, Successful completion is achieved when all the required theory and practical tests have been passed to the required standard set.
  • After successful completion of this Apprenticeship, the apprentice will receive a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft - Toolmaking from SOLAS.

 

Aircraft Engineer Apprenticeship Program

  • The Aircraft Engineer Apprenticeship Program is a four-year, paid apprenticeship during which the candidates spend a total of 75 weeks in Aviation College (Shannon and Dublin) and the remaining time in On-the-Job Training (OJT) in Dublin Aerospace’s facilities. After two years they will achieve EASA Category A Aircraft Mechanic and after four years the successful candidates are designated as EASA Category B Aircraft Engineers. There are two streams; Avionics and Airframe/Engine.
  • The apprentices will carry out maintenance and repair of aircraft parts/components while learning to use specialised equipment in a workshop environment. The work also involves plant and machinery installation.  The work is diverse and highly regulated, both nationally and internationally. 

 

Since its inception, Dublin Aerospace has expanded from a team of just 18 based in Dublin to a team of over 500 across Dublin, Ashbourne, Belfast, and Exeter.
